On the achievements of the Union State and plans for the future
13.02.2024Supercomputers and space. How scientists of Belarus and Russia cooperate in high-tech spheres
Piloted cosmonautics and remote sunsing of the Earth, electronic medicine, robotics, supercomputer computing, microelectronics - a list of promising scientific directions can be continued. Scientists of Belarus and Russia do not ignore any of these areas and together achieve significant results. Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus during the expert-medical tour told reporters about the achievements of the Union State and plans for the future.Sergey Kruglikov, Director General of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted that the Institute works in several areas: supercomputer computing, electronic medicine and bioinformatics, digital cartography, robotics.
According to the first of them, the programs of the Union State were implemented. “Belarus and Russia have passed all stages of formation as supercomputer powers. We occupy leading places in the use of supercomputers, solve a number of tasks to model various processes and phenomena. Gradually moved not just to the creation of supercomputers, but to solving specific problems in the industries and socio-economic sphere. For example, supercomputers were specially developed to solve problems in the field of mineral development. For the industry, it is important to create digital twins that allow to conduct research of various details, mechanisms and reduce the number of marriage by 69-85%, ”said Sergey Kruglikov.
Supercomputer technologies played an important role in the possibility of computer analysis of biomedical images. “From e-medicine we move to intellectual. The pandemic has also contributed. We began to actively master the topic of studying lung images. Supercomputer computing is of great importance in modeling and searching for new drugs. Our scientists and our calculators used in the development of the vaccine against COVID-19, ”the general director of the institute drew attention.
Supercomputer technology is also beneficial in the social and cultural spheres. Thanks to these technologies, the "Harlaepic Slonik Belarusian Move" was developed and released in the shortest possible time. Issues of modeling architectural monuments are also relevant.
Microelectronics
“The number one issue is import substitution of microelectronics. Everyone understands that if earlier the components were purchased freely abroad, now we can not buy them there. Therefore, we will mobilize all forces to independently release those elements that are necessary for our radio-electronic industry,” said Sergey Kruglikov.A number of joint projects of Belarus and Russia are now under development. These are projects in the field of medicine, in the field of development of the Arctic and Antarctic, pattern recognition, the creation of drones, robotics.
"Now we are planning that a new program will be launched - "Kpleklex-SG". It is dedicated to the development of near space. Also, the program for the study of the ionosphere is also launched. This is a very interesting and little-studied area,” added Sergey Kruglikov.
