Director General of the Joint Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Kruglikov on how artificial intelligence developments are developing in Belarus and how profitable they are

At the opening of the "Intellectual Belarus" forum last year, the Head of State said that he would support the desire of the National Academy of Sciences to begin developing the field of artificial intelligence on a professional basis. In fact, they have always worked on AI technologies in our country - for as long as independent Belarus has existed. It was just expressed in a different form. For example, primary computer networks and automated decision support systems were created. But the intellectual component has always been there. And the President clearly predicts that this is the future. AI exists, it is developing, and this will have to be taken into account. Both the National Academy of Sciences and our United Institute for Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences, which has now become a "digitalization office" by decree of the Head of State, are actively working in these areas.

Today, our main goal is to concentrate and group all developers of artificial intelligence systems on one site in order to move forward faster. To do this, a concept and strategy must be developed. Our institute will act as a platform where scientists from different fields will discuss the development of artificial intelligence. This year, we will invite the best of the best to cooperate on the sidelines of various scientific forums and conferences.

We have already developed the BELAI.BY platform on our own initiative — this is the first electronic platform where anyone can register. At the same time, not only mathematicians and computer scientists are needed to work with artificial intelligence systems, but everyone is needed: linguists, sociologists, historians, philosophers. The social aspect is important because we need to understand where to move. Artificial intelligence today covers all areas of society.
